This artwork captures the artist’s observations
of three differently sized "houses"
in a traditional Chinese village.

There is a large house for the family,
a medium-sized house for the dog,
and a small house for the Datuk Gong
(Na Tuk Kong), local guardian spirits. 

What makes this arrangement intriguing
is how the size of the houses seems
to contradict their purpose or importance, prompting the question: what is truly
important in life?

About the Artist

Shuuhuahua is an artist, illustrator, zinemaker, and graphic designer from Penang, currently based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Her distinctive artwork blends eccentricity with quirky elements, giving form to what she observes in a unique and captivating way. Most of Shu's illustrations are created digitally and realised through Risograph printing. She views zines and art books not merely as objects for shelves, but as dynamic forms. Through experimenting with open formats and folding structures, she continuously pushes the boundaries of pages and visual storytelling.
