A continuation of Cawand Dien's RUMAH from 2016, The Smile is adapted from Edvard Munch's The Scream. The artist features his original character Cuphead in this artwork, further contextualizing the setting within Malaysia by adding elements commonly found in local villages and including a reference to the filmography of P. Ramlee.
