Growing up in a Western-based arts education system, Kelley constantly felt that she needed to intellectualise and justify her art for a grade. As such, creating art became a convoluted and rigid process for her. She strongly resonates with Matisse's pursuit of subjective expression in art, distilling the essence of a scene with colour and shape, and his rejection of realistic representation. In her interpretation, she attempts to capture the spirit of Dance through her medium of digital abstraction.
