Singaporean Hawkers by Sandy Ang
Singaporean Hawkers by Sandy Ang
Food plays a big part in Singaporean culture. Locals and tourists from all walks of life travel across our sunny island, joining winding queues for food.
An integral part of Singaporean food culture is our hawker centres. Without much recognition, friendly hawkers work tirelessly day and night to provide others with delectable local delights.
This artwork inspired by Grant Wood's American Gothic features the unsung heroes of Singapore against the backdrop of an iconic hawker centre – Lau Pa Sat – in honour of their hard work placed in satisfying our daily cravings.
