The artist loves back profiles—it’s like peeking behind a curtain. There’s a sense of mystery that evokes curiosity, where subtle details hint at a person’s true nature.

The braided eyes symbolise awareness, observation, and curiosity. They also represent perspective and understanding. We’ve seen so much, yet never enough; we think we know everything, but in reality, we know very little.

Deeply curious about psychology, dreams, intuition, and the inner workings of the human mind, the artist creates drawings and ideas that come in ways not always fully understood. This year, Shu began reading Carl Jung to better understand herself while working on her zines, drawings, and illustrations.

About the Artist

Shuuhuahua is an artist, illustrator, zinemaker, and graphic designer from Penang, currently based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Her distinctive artwork blends eccentricity with quirky elements, giving form to what she observes in a unique and captivating way. Most of Shu's illustrations are created digitally and realised through Risograph printing. She views zines and art books not merely as objects for shelves, but as dynamic forms. Through experimenting with open formats and folding structures, she continuously pushes the boundaries of pages and visual storytelling.
