The timeless charm of Peranakan tile patterns breathes new life into everyday household items. Within each motif, a story unfolds, imbuing the ordinary with significance—a merging of old and new. The Non-of-Ya vase series remind us of the important yet forgotten objects that constitute our day-to-day lives, in which even the humble dishwashing liquid becomes an embellishment of home.

About The Artist

Jill Tran is a Saigonese millennial who lives and practises in Brighton. Her work stems from daily experiences and observations, and grows through chimerical thoughts fuelled by folklore, novels and movies. She always feels thankful for the present, yet is obsessed with nostalgia, and wonders how her life would have been if she had been born earlier. Having lived in three places, Jill’s third culture identity morphs memories of place and space into a home.
